Webb11 apr. 2024 · Recently tRNA-derived small RNAs (tDRs) have been implicated as regulators of many cellular processes within and beyond translation. We previously identified the tRNA Thr (AGU) 3’ half as a ribosome-associated non-coding RNA with the ability to enhance global translation. WebbSince peptide synthesis does not involve free amino acids, the functionalized tRNA also serves as an adapter which both binds an amino acid and delivers it in a coded sequence to the ribosome. Ribosomes serve as templates which bind mRNA and tRNA. The peptidyl-tRNA bearing a peptide chain at the terminus is bound to the P-site of the ribosome.
