The Pierian spring is another fountain of knowledge that inspires all who drink from it. The saying ‘a little knowledge is a dangerous thing’ comes from a poem by Alexander Pope, ‘An Essay on Criticism.’ The name of the spring comes from the Pierides, the gaggle of girls (daughters of King Pierus) who sought a contest with the Muses.
